MiKayla (instructor) is an excellent teacher and gets along outstandingly well with my daughter and works as a great motivational person which my daughter can look up to. He has been really good in going with their pace to keep their interests, while challenging them enough. He also makes sure they have a good theory foundation, which in turn enhances their playing. They don't drag their feet when practicing their new songs anymore. When I had to reschedule our lessons, Cole had been very accommodating. We are so thankful that we found Henderson Academy. They did group lessons in a classroom in another school for several months. The group lessons caused competition and bad feelings among the students. Switching to private lessons at home has made such a huge difference that I am just over the moon about it. David made sure my kids could each play a song after their first 30-minute lesson. Ever since then my kids play the piano constantly. I mean they even get up in the middle of the night and play. I never have to ask them to practice. David also noted that my 2 kids have different learning styles and so he teaches each one differently. David respected my choice to just make it fun for them, and in so doing in only a few weeks each child can play several songs with both hands. We have one child who has a natural ear for music and will pick out tunes quickly by listening to them. He enjoys making up his own songs and our teacher Wesley does a marvelous job keeping him interested in piano and writing his own music. Another child is drawn to the more classical piano style. He prefers playing familiar tunes like Turkish Rondo and Moonlight Sonata. Wesley brings him music scores that keep him focused and challenge him. We recently purchased a house in another city.
